Hayswood Theatre is thrilled to announce auditions for our September 2010 musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, directed by Jennifer Zink with musical director Beth Bostock. Written by Jeffrey Lane with music by David Yazbeck and based on the 1988 hit film, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels tells the hilarious tale of two con men on the French Riviera. It ran on Broadway for almost 2 years and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Sorry, no perusal scripts are available, but auditioners will have time to look over the audition scene. In addition, please bring a brief song that shows off your vocal ability. Be prepared to move and dance.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Based on the popular 1988 film, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS centers on two con men living on the French Riviera. The first is the suave and sophisticated Lawrence Jameson, who makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. The other, a small-time crook named Freddy Benson, more humbly swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother's failing health.

After meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that this small French town isn't big enough for the two of them. They agree on a settlement: the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target, heiress Christine Colgate, wins and the other must leave town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues, that will keep audiences laughing, humming and guessing to the end!

Lawrence Jameson (Age Range 40-60) An handsome, experienced, British con man initially posing as the deposed Prince of a fictional country.

Freddy Benson (Age Range 25-40) A  small time American con man initially posing as a selfless Red Cross worker trying to raise funds to help his ailing grandmother.

Jolene Oaks (Age Range 25-35) An Oklahoma oil heiress.

Andre Thibault (Age Range 40-60) Lawrence's assistant - and the Chief of Police

Muriel Eubanks (Age Range 30-50) A sexy and ditzy divorcee.

Christine Colgate (Age Range 20-35) A beautiful and seemingly clumsy & kind-hearted woman known as the American Soap Queen.
