A Small Town Favorite - The Hayswood Theatre

Hayswood Theatre started in 1969 by the Women's Literary Club to bring people to Corydon and support the local economy by promoting cultural growth. The First State Capitol Building in the town square was the first performance space used by the Theatre beginning with performances in 1970, performing reenactments of actual trials that occurred there in the 1820's.

In May of 1971, the Eureka Telephone Company leased and then eventually sold its building located at 115 South Capitol Avenue to the Hayswood Theatre, which remains as its home still to this day.

Each year over 3,000 people attend the various performances at the Theatre. Attendees enjoy dining, sightseeing, and shopping downtown before and after the performances.
