Student Theatre Workshop 2004

 Enroll in a theatre workshop focusing on imaginative play, creatiing characters, and acting out stories to stimluate body awareness, coordination, and emotional expression.  We strive to instill a productive and positive attitude that comes from knowledge and mutual respect.  Communication, presentation skills, and self-esteem are enhanced while having all the fun that is inherent in live theatre.

Class Topics

Movement

• Focuses on the ability to communicate with your physical center - how body language can reveal the needs and wants of a character without words.

• Covers acting fundamentals and gives a practical approach to scripted material.  Basic acting skills are introduced and developed through exercises drawn from a range of actor training methods.

• Create characters and relationships with more depth and meaning.  Quick scene and long form improv will be used to discover different ways to find and build richer characters and situations.

• The "other" part of building a character.  Masks, costumes, and props will be used to help the students build their characters.
